Michael Janich

Michael Janich is an accomplished martial artist and personal defense instructor. He is also one of the foremost authorities on handgun point shooting and one of the few modern instructors to have been personally trained by the late close-combat legend Colonel Rex Applegate. Janich’s impressive career has included 15 years of distinguished service with the U.S. government, including service with U.S. Army intelligence, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the Joint Task Force-Full Accounting (JTF-FA). The author of numerous books and instructional videotapes, Janich is best known as the founder of Martial Blade Concepts (MBC)--a state-of-the-art system of edged-weapon tactics--Counter-Blade Concepts (CBC), Damithurt Silat, and Sobadiwan Eskrima. A popular seminar instructor, Janich is also co-host and subject matter expert for the Outdoor Channel's The Best Defense television series. He has also been featured on the Discovery Channel's Time Warp and the cover of Black Belt magazine and is a contributing editor for Tactical Knives magazine. Following a long affiliation with the  renowned Spyderco knife company of Golden, Colorado, Janich officially joined them in late 2009 as their Special Projects Coordinator. In that capacity, he combines his talents as designer, inventor, writer, videographer, and trainer to represent Spyderco's outstanding products to discriminating end users worldwide.
